Precautions for Using Electric Hoists
Oct 13,2025
Before use, inspect the mechanical and electrical components of the equipment to ensure that parts such as wire ropes, hooks, and limit switches are intact and undamaged, the electrical system is free from any leakage, and the grounding device is functioning properly.
Electric hoists shall be equipped with cushioning devices, and stop plates shall be installed at both ends of the track.
When you begin lifting the load, pause the operation once the object has been raised to a certain height above the ground. Check the braking performance of the electric hoist to ensure it’s functioning properly before resuming formal operations.
Strictly prevent collisions; when lifting and transporting objects, ensure they are securely tied and properly fastened. When operating an electric hoist to move heavy objects, be sure to keep the load at a height that is not excessively high above the ground. During work breaks, never leave heavy objects suspended in mid-air.
If any abnormal conditions, such as unusual odors or high temperatures, occur during the operation of the electric hoist, immediately stop the machine and perform a thorough inspection. Do not resume use until the issue has been resolved.
When using a suspended-cable electrical control switch, the insulation must be in good condition, and the sliding operation should be smooth and effortless. Operators must maintain sufficient safety clearance behind their standing position, and the buttons must be operated correctly.
During the lifting operation, if a malfunction occurs causing the heavy object to become uncontrolled and start sliding downward, immediate emergency measures must be taken to safely lower the load into an unoccupied area.
When the electric hoist is braked under its rated load, its downward displacement must not exceed the specified value; otherwise, oil contamination should be removed or the brake ring replaced.
After completing the task, you should park it in the designated area, raise the hook, and disconnect the power supply. Be sure to lock the switch box.
